Tipping Etiquette

One of the most common questions we're asked is about tipping.

For the record, tipping is always appreciated and never expected.

We see it two ways. First off, as massage therapy is a limited branch of the Ohio State Medical Board so it is technically a medical procedure. One doesn't normally tip his or her doctor for services rendered.

On the other hand, it is also a "personal service," and it's traditional to tip those in personal service, such as wait staff, cosmetologists, and stylists.

Our staff is well compensated for their time. As we stated above, a tip is always appreciated, but please don't feel obligated to leave one.

Finally, for those folks who do choose to leave a tip, the average amount is about $5 to $7 per massage hour.

You can hand the therapist a tip in cash if you like or leave it at the front desk. Cash tips are given to the therapist that day (and somehow Uncle Sam doesn't have to be told about those cash tips!). Tips left on a credit card or a check will be paid to the therapist on her normal commission check.

Therapists receive 100% of their tips. In The Bag Massage does NOT withhold or take any portion of a tip you leave.
